        I'm sorry to hear that the kit doesn't seem to be working with CCS v4. Can you post  a screen shot of the error you're getting? What emulator are you using?

       The kit is based on the C28346, however we changed part numbers while the kits were being built. Thus the chip is labeled C28345 but is actually a C28346. We had our manufacturer obscure the part number in hopes that customers would read the documentation and find the answer. [:)] Anyway, treat it as a C28346 and you'll be fine.

Hey Charlie,

I tried to post a screen shot last night - had the eclipse failure window all nicely formatted - but how do you post?  Oh, I think I see now - the little media thingy - I kept looking under my profile to see if I could post images there.

That image is on my development laptop - which I don't have with me right now.  I will post it this evening.  However, I have gone to numerous java sites and all say that the JVM isn't starting or at least isn't starting correctly.  I have re-installed Java - and run the Java test apps - says all is well but it still crashes.

Oh, no wonder there is crud on the part #!  But if you look real close - you can see it is a 5 vs. 6 - they did a pretty good job masking that at the same time of not damaging the chip.  I wasn't looking for that in the docs - maybe that is why I didn't find it. 

I am using the XDS100 of course!  Drivers all report they install OK - at least from the Vista-64 control panel->device manager.

Thanks for the clarification on the P/N - thought the crash could be happening due to that.

I haven't been able to get CCS to connect to a DSP target like the older tools yet - you know - connect to the target, debugger stops, and all well with no symbols or downloads loaded yet.  Be nice to get back to that state.

      What XDS100 emulator are you using? There is a pin for supplying the emulator with power from the docking station, I would try moving that/removing that jumper. I don't know much about CCS V4 so I'm trying to find someone who does...

Spectrum Digital/TI - bought from TI - you guys shipped me the SD unit.

Looks like J12 is the only jumper to set - and that is set for the 3.3V reference voltage from the emulator.

Hi John,

Since CCS appears to have crashed, there should be some generated crash dump files. Could you attach them to this thread? See #5 of: http://e2e.ti.com/forums/t/6045.aspx for more details

I got it. Thanks. By analyzing your dump files, I can see that you are hitting the same issue as described here:

As mentioned, the issue will be resolved in the next service release for v4. The service release should be available very soon.

PS - I also tried this on a Vista-32 machine - same result - thought it may be related to Vista-64 - but evidently not.

Yes, I think I need to be more careful when giving a schedule :-P

We hit some snags but are close now. At the risk of looking more foolish, I'll say that it should be available sometime mid-next week...

UPDATE: Looks like I was wrong again. This update will not make it out this week. That's the last time I give a date :-P

Actually the 4.0.2 content is all ready, we just ran into problems with the packaging (issues with the uninstaller) which I believe has been resolved and undergoing final testing. So the release of 4.0.2 is "very soon"

CCS 4.0.2 has been officially released. Both an incremental update for 4.0.1 via Eclipse Update manager ('Help->Software Updates->Find and Install...->Search for updates of the currently installed features') and full 4.0.2 install are available.
