F28335 clocking options

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDSCNCD28335

Hi all,

I've been using eZDSP running my application @ 150MHz using a 30MHz oscillator.

Now I've started using my own hardware with a daughter board TMDSCNCD28335 connected to it, but this daughter board has a 20MHz crystal connected to the X1/X2 pins. The problem is I cannot determine a combination of PLLSTS/PLLCR registers to run the CPU @ 150MHz like I did with eZDSP.

Is it correct or am I missing some other necessary register to be configured ? May I replace the daughter board crystal with a 30MHz piece ?

Thanks,

Marcelo

  • Marcelo,

We initially designed the controlCARD using TMX silicon which supported a PLL multiplier of 15, which is not the case for TMS silicon. I would recommend you replace the crystal on the controlCARD with a 30MHz one. On our currently shipping controlCARDs we have fixed this issue and all have 30MHz crystals. Alternatively you could use a PLL multiplier of 15, it will work just fine but isn't supported if you go to production. Let me know if you have any other questions.
