flash programming tool for mass production

Please follow the link:

http://www.elprotronic.com/flashpro2000.html

Concerning this tool, if I want to program 10 pcs at the same time, I have to own 10  sets of flashrpo2000, am I right  ????

Are there other known c2000 flash programming tools facilitate mass production?

I might need sufficient information about C2000's M.P.

Thanks a lot.

  • Ken,

There are essentially two different times you would program the device:

    Pre-Board Assembly

    - For Elpotronics:: Yes, you would need a programming box (what they call an FPA) for each device you want to program at the same time, but you can use one PC (for up to 16 FPAs at the same time).
    - Data I/O also offers support with their FlashPAK which can gang program: http://www.data-io.com/products/default.asp?id=31
    - For mass production most customers are having their distributor pre-program the devices (they use an expensive full featured BP Micro or Data I/O tester).
    - We did have a 3P who built a gang programming box, but it really didn't sell well since there were already good single chip  and post-board assembly programming options.

    Post-Board Assembly
    - Most customers are using the JTAG or Serial programmers on their final board assembly.
    - Additionally some are using other interfaces at the board level (like CAN) by using the built in Boot ROM (or write their own for OTP) and the Flash API.
