F28xx On-Chip Flash Programmer problem

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28335, CCSTUDIO

When I try to program a TMS320F28335 via the On-Chip Flash Programmer in Code Composer Studio version 3.3.54.1. When I attempt to select the On-Chip Flash Programmer, I get the following message:

Non-supported PartID: 0x00EF

...

But I can successfully programed TMX320F28335 (PartID:0x00FA). So I think the On-Chip Flash Programmer in Code Composer Studio does not supported the NEW version of F28335 - TMS320F28335, Is that ture? How can I program TMS320F28335? Thanks!

  • The version of your On Chip Flash Programmer does not support the device you are attempting to program. This programmer will need to be updated to obtain the newer algorithms. The updates are available in the latest Service Release available for Code Composer Studio. Updates are available with a valid subscription through the Help Menu of Code Composer Studio.

  • I had update my CCS3.3 to Service Rease 11 (CCS3.3.81.6), and I can check the version of F28xx On-chip Flash programmer is 5.92.0.314,  but the problem still present.
    The error prompt is:

     "Non-supported PartID: 0x00EF"
    Supported Devices:
    ...
    F28335(0x00FA)...

it seems that parID of TMS320F28335 is 0x00EF, does not match 0x00FA.

  • On update advisor, check under the chip support package (CSP) releases.  The flash programmer update is in a CSP; it did not make it into service release 11.

  • Thank you! The error prompt puzzle me, it said "Non-supported PartID: 0x00EF", it means that the PartID of the chip mounting on my board (TMS320F28335) is "0x00EF", not "0x00FA". I know "0x00FA" is PartID of TMX320F28335. So I think the PartID of  TMS320F28335 is differ from TMX320F28335, is that true?

  • Yes, the PARTID changed with respect to the Rev A silicon release (In this case Rev A also aligned to the change from TMX to TMS silicon).  Please refer to the TMS320F28335, F28334, F28332, F28235, F28234, F28232 DSC Silicon Errata. Table 2 has a list of changes made for each revision of silicon.

  • Hi,

I am having the exact same problem, using the ezdsp TMS320F28335. When I bought it, the part provided was a TMX320F28335 but it crashed a few days ago. I had bought some TMS too, so I tried to use it, and the flash programmer seems not to be up to date.

The problem is that I can't get the update, when I check it indicates me that ma plugin is up to date...

    What can I do ?

I am currently using the SDFLash utility provided with the eZDSP board, but I have to close CCStudio each time, and I have not anymore access to the debug tools, so it can't be the best solution..

Thank you for your help !

PS : I think my plugin version is the v1.12.5

  • Hye... so how to settle this problem.. can i get the update link cause i have the same problem also... thanks

  • If you are using the eZdsp version of the software you do not have access to the updates. However, Spectrum Digital has now updated the software. You can go to their website and download the new image. This is described at the following post:

  • Hello alls

I can see at the update advisor the update file to settle down this problem using Chip Support Package for F2823x RevA which will Adds support for F2823x and F2833x Rev A silicon. This CSP was updated to resolve install problems with the F2823x CSP that was released on 4-22-2008.
Service Release 8 or higher is required.

  • I had the same problem....Thanks!

  • I have similar problem on F28332 processor. But in my case I get "Non-supported PartID: 0xFFFF ...". The 0x380090 memory is accessible and it contains this incorrect value (0xFFFF).

  • Hello,

I have TMS320F28335 eZdsp. Can I use TMSF28335 with Matlab but in non stand alone mode(whitout flash memory) and if the answer is yes how I can do this?
