C2000 Renewable Energy Developer's Kit reference design circuit

Hello! May I request C2000 Renewable Energy Developer's Kit reference design circuit for my solar power inverter H/W design reference use.

Please let me know where can get it. Your support is much appreciated.

  • Download the "Board Specific" link SPRC898 from here
    http://focus.ti.com/mcu/docs/mcuprodmsptoolsw.tsp?sectionId=95&tabId=1222&familyId=916&toolTypeId=1#ccardappkits

    Once installed look here:
    C:\TI_F28xxx_SysHW\Renewable-HWdevPkg

    Schematics, BOM, Gerber, PCB files.

  • Hi Chris,

I download the sprc898.zip file,  I open it, but it is "invalid or corrupt".

Would you please check the file in TI website?

    Regards

    Samuel

  • I just checked it, works fine

  • Hi Chris,

There are several brands of Solar Grid inverter in the market, such as SMA from Germany, Xantrex from Canada, latronics from Australia, do you know what kinds of microprocessor used in those solar inverter?  TI DSP or other customised MCU?

Because what we learn should be match the market requirement.

    Regards

    Samuel

  • Samuel,

Yes, there are several brands, and several types of inverters / micro-converters on the market, with different features.  I should not say which processors these companies are using.

I believe what we learn from these companies does help us meet market requirements from processor capability, peripheral capability, topology support, communications, algorithm improvement, etc. but we are not in the business of creating a grid tied or micro-inverter reference design to compete with these companies (our customers). :)

The renewable energy kit gives a scaled down power example of the key pieces of technology needed in these types of systems, and lets a customer verify the capability of a C2000 device to control the power conversion.  We (C2000 and wider TI groups) are working on some additional technology examples for these markets as well.

  • Hi Chris,

Can you please advise if this demo kit can be configured as a grid-feed style inverter? Or is it stand alone only?

    Thanks,

    Matt

  • matthew,

thiis kit is lower voltage, so it can't output onto the line, but it can be connected to the line, will detect and synch. it's more of a learning tool than a full high voltage model like some of our other kits.
