What C2000 MCUs will come with USB? Will ethernet come as well?

I noticed the following enticing comment in a piece of TI literature recently that suggests that there will be some C2000 MCU chips with USB device and/or USB OTG support included among their functions.  I'd appreciate it if someone from TI could share some details as to the capabilities of the chips that are being designed for such applications and how they fit into the existing C2000 lineup / roadmap.

When might these kinds of chips be planned to be available as development samples?

Tangentially, I am also interested to know if any C2000 devices are being contemplated to include an ethernet interface controller/MAC (or even PHY), or if there may be any suggestions for external interface solutions between C2000 (using the EMIF, XINTF or McBSP I guess) and ethernet.

Cited from SLAY014: "...While being an OTG appears to be an appealing option, it is not appropriate for many applications. Embedded hosts must be able to source 8 mA to attached devices, and this requirement has led many companies to reconsider their intention to support OTG host capability, especially in applications where long operation life is required from a single-cell battery.  For applications that do require OTG support, TI offers solutions within its Stellaris and C2000 MCU portfolios...."

Thanks for any insights that you can provide.  I am interested / excited to have the possibility of some kind of moderately high bandwidth interface between the C2000 and a PC.

  • SLAY014 is inaccurate, there is no current integrated USB or ENET support on C2000 / 28x MCUs.

There is an external solution (through EMIF) available for ENET from Windmill Innovations:

We have not announced any devices with USB support (yet)...but it's certainly a peripheral of interest.

It would be helpful to know any expectations for USB.  What modes, speeds, device classes, etc.  Our sister group Stellaris ARM Cortex-M3 has a nice USB OTG/H/D peripheral with an excellent USB Library:
