InstaSpin - difficulty driving a low inductance BLDC

Hi,

My customer is using the DRV8301-HC-C2-KIT EVM to spin a sensorless BLDC.  It is a 2-pole motor, and we are using the 4-pole setting. BLDC motor specs are as follows:

The motor spins, but it is very noisy and it gets warm within seconds.  The commutation waveforms do not look right- see below.

What could be wrong?
