TMS320F28335 DSP fall to secure mode

Even all the security password keys were FFFF, after downlading a program to flash by CCS, it returned its status to secure mode.

Even we tried many different configurations we couldn't unlock it.

Is there any way to erase the whole program and return it back to default state?

Mehmet

  • Trying ‘Depletion Recovery’ (button in the Operation window) will help if the flash is in over-erase condition. Probably, the flash is permanently locked. That is all CSM locations are now 0x0000. This can happen if the erase operation is terminated (reset or power-down) before completion. In that case you will not able to erase/reprogram the part.

  • so  is there any solution to this problem;

    in the csm reference guide there's a code given to unsecure the flash;

    does it work?

    also if the csm contains 0x0000; then can v unlock it by setting all the password locations to zero in on chip flash programmer plugin

  • Can someone from TI please explain why their desingers chose all zeros as the "permanent locked" password?

    It seems rather silly since it is so easy for the Flash Erase function to cause this problem if it gets interrupted.  I wish TI made all zeros to be just a regular password so that people can try to unlock the chip if the Flash Erase was messed up.

    Why didn't TI chose a less likely value for that special password?

  • Try holding the processor in reset state (if you have a "reset" button for example) while you are connecting to it with the JTAG. After you have been connected, leave the "reset" button and program the flash as general.

    Please let me know if somebody tries it and it works.

    Sincerely,

    Alex
