Recommended approach for developing DSP/BIOS device drivers for TMS320F28335 ?

Would the recommended approach be to use the IOM model as detailed in SPRU616 "DSP/BIOS Driver Developers Guide" ?

I notice that 28xx devices are not supported by the Device Drivers Development Kit.
