DSP Library for TMS320x2803x

I am looking for a microcontroller to do some low speed DSP tasks (FIR, FFT). Reading the documentation and looking on the examples I've found that only TMS320x283x microcontrollers are able to do this (not for TMS320x2803x). Is this true or I am missing something?

If the TI DSP library is just for the TMS320x283x can you recommend something for TMS320x2803x?

The 2833x devices have an FPU on them so we provide a floating point DSP library, for the 2803x you can only use the fixed point dsp library. If you have controlSUITE you will find them under libs/dsp/FixedPoint.

Vishal, thank you for your answer.

I wasn’t sure about TMS320x2803x because there are no DSP examples in the controlSUITE (only for 2833x). Can you direct me where to find one or send me one?

Have you consider using a 2806x instead? It costs just a little more but you get FPU and a few other things as well.

The 28069 also have a lot more internal RAM! You can never have too much internal RAM. ;-)

sorry, my mistake-- The examples in the fixed point lib are for the 2833x as well. What i meant was they are the only ones that can be applied to the 2803x, once the linker file is changed appropriately. I have attached an example I wrote earlier that should give you an idea of how to use the lib on a 28035.

quark, thanks for your suggestion. It looks a good option considering the lack of fixed point DSP examples.

I tried a few times to unzip your file. I can see the content of the zip file but I cannot unzip the files.

I was able to unzip, compile and debug your project. Thank you.

As quark suggested, 28069 has a FPU and I could use it with the floating point DSP library. Can you send me a similar DSP project for this uC-ler (28069)?

… and the last question: I am getting an annoying warning when I debug my project:

” C28xx: Flash Programmer: Warning: The configured device (TMS320F28027), does not match the detected device (TMS320F28035). Flash Programming operations could be affected. Please consider modifying your target configuration file.”

Can you give me a hint how can I get rid of it?

there is a similar project in controlSUITE, C:\TI\controlSUITE\development_kits\F28069 controlSTICK\FPU - SineFIRFFT32 it uses the FPU library instead of the fixed point library. The fixed point library can be used on any C28x device, all that is required is that you use the right linker command file in your project. The library documentation should cover the implementation part in more detail.

I think I configured the target config file(.ccxml) for the 28027 device. You have to open the .ccxml file and change it to the specific device variant you are using.

The project you sent me didn’t have a .ccxml file and when I debugged it the default file was considered by the debugger. I solved the problem creating a target configuration file for my specific uC.

Thank you for your help. Now I have a good starting point for my project.
