speed of 320F280x

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F2812

Hello there,

In 280x DSP, if it states 100MIP, this speed is based on the codes which are in the RAM. If the program code is in the Flash memory, it will need extra wait cycle, so the speed will be lower than the 100MIP claimed. It is true statement or not? Is any document for 280x states about this issue?

Regards,

sm

  • Generally yes, while i've only used the TMS320F2812 in order to achieve the best performance the code needs to run in onchip ram, external ram depending on its speed is slower with the flash being the slowest.

  • Thanks. The application note is good.
