_IQNdiv with dividend and divisor having a different IQ format than the quotient

Hello,

According to the IQmath documentation, dividend, divisor and quotient for the function _IQNdiv all have to be in the same IQ format. I accidentally carried out a division

iq30=_IQ30div(iq22,iq22);

and found that the result is correct. Dividend and divisor do not fit into the IQ30 range, but their quotient does. Can one say in general that _IQNdiv outputs the quotient in the format IQN, and the arguments can have a different format than the result as long as both arguments have the same?

Sincerely,

Adrian
