access to the port COM 4 is denied

hello everyone

i m a university student trying to use the "TMS320C2000' DEVELOPMENT TOOLS, with the "HVMTRPFCKIT" kit and a PMSM motor.

following the steps as they are, whenever i setup the connection, and try to click connect, it displays an error message saying ...

"an unhandled exception has occurred, ACCESS TO THE PORT COM4 is denied " !

in the device manager there is a yellow sign on the xds560 JTAG emulator, but in my opinion since i aint using the JTAG hardware, this yellow sign (driver cannot start code 10) shouldnt be the reason. (the usb serial port is successfully installed )

i have tried to build the set up on 2 OS.

win xp sp3 32 bit

win 7 64 bit

both display the same error !

please help me solve the issue !

HI Awais,

may we get a few further details here. What CCS version are you using? Where/when do you get that message?

A few initial comments

- I would recommend clearing the warning in your device manager

- I would check permissions and anitvirus interference/issues

- I would check COM port conflicts (ie with virtual bluetooth ports, being opened in another program etc)

CCS version i m using is v4.

i get the message, when i connect the board and click "set up connection". the error occurs, GUI gets hanged !

blue tooth adapter is turned off and there arent any COM port conflicts.

another important thing to notify is: there isnt any device manager warning when i use my laptop ! (win7 64 bit) ... still i get the same error !

Hi Awais,

is this not CCS giving the error? Your capture seems to show a separate utility. If so your post might be better in the C2000 forum. Please confirm and I can move it there for you.

because it is the GUI that gets hanged !
