error in connect target in Piccolo F2803x controlCARD

Hi everyone,

When i try to connect the target, an dialog was shown as follows:

Trouble Reading Register ST1: (Error -1156 @ 0x6) Device may be operating in low-power mode. Do you want to bring it out of this mode? (Release 5.0.429.0)

Meanwhile i noticed that in the board, the LD1 and LD2 were blinking all the time.
After i clicked "yes", the CCS was automotically closed, and the two LEDs still blinked.

Then i restart the CCS and try to connect the target again, the following errors was shown:

C28xx: Error: (Error -1135 @ 0x3FF8A1) The emulator reported an error. Confirm emulator configuration and connections, reset the emulator, and retry the operation. (Release 5.0.429.0) C28xx: A fatal error occured while attempting to remove the remaining debug state that could not be removed at disconnect.  This might have occured because a breakpoint was set at an address that is no longer valid.  This behaviour may be turned off in the "Debug Properties" tab in the Customize dialog under the Option menu

Please tell me how can i fix this problem? The on-board emulator is broken? or?

  • Liwa,

What kit are you using?  (specifically what baseboard)

Has this controlCARD ever worked?  Or has this issue come up suddenly?

    Thank you,
    Brett

  • Hi Brett,

    Thank you for your reply.

I am using picolo F2803x controlCARD.

Yes, it was worked before when i created a simple model to let the LD2 blinky.

This issue comed up when i try to build another model to test the digital input and output. I think i have short connected the pin 24 and 5V as shown in the figure

  • Liwa,

This C2000 MCU is not 5V tolerant.  Because of this, your connection from GPIO24 to 5V should not be made.  Can you remove the wire that is making the connection and try again?

    The 'F28035 MCU's logic is 0-3.3V.

    Thank you,
    Brett

  • Hi Brett,

    Thank you for your help.

I have removed the wire, but the same phenomenon appears. I mean when i turn on the board power, the LD2 (red) turns on for about 1s and then turns off. After that the LD1(green) and LD2(red) start blink.

When I try to connect the target, an error dialog pop up

when i click "Yes", it shows" C28xx: Trouble performing response " in the console.

Does this mean the on-board emulator is damaged or?

    best regards,

    Liwa

This tells me that the flash has been programmed with some program.  This shouldn't affect whether or not the C2000 MCU can connect.

I believe that the issue is one of the following.  I would try 1, 2, and 3 first with the hopes that they will solve your issue.
    1) Can you try closing CCS, restarting the computer, and trying to use a new CCS workspace
    2) Confirm that you are using the proper target configuration
    3) It may be worthwhile to reprogram the FTDI chip and then retrying.  I've seen this get rid of Windows+FTDI issues in the past.  See the following post:
    http://e2e.ti.com/support/microcontrollers/c2000/f/171/t/21086.aspx
    4) The controlCARD (I lean this way because you tied a 5V input to a GPIO pin) or the "Docking Station" is damaged.

    Thank you,
    Brett

  • Hi Brett,

Thank you very much for help.

I have tried the 1, 2, and 3 steps.  After the third step, in the device manager, the TI XDS100 Channel A and B could be found as shown in the figure

However, when i try to connect the target agian, an error dialog pop up

I try to disconnect the board and connet it again, the following errors are shown up

C28xx: Error: (Error -1135 @ 0x3FF8A1) The emulator reported an error. Confirm emulator configuration and connections, reset the emulator, and retry the operation. (Release 5.0.429.0)

C28xx: A fatal error occured while attempting to remove the remaining debug state that could not be removed at disconnect.  This might have occured because a breakpoint was set at an address that is no longer valid.  This behaviour may be turned off in the "Debug Properties" tab in the Customize dialog under the Option menu

Does this mean i could come to the conclusion that my board is damaged? :(:(

    Best regards,

    Liwa
