I noticed some new products on the Piccolo line.

How does it differ from the regular TMS320F28069 ?

TMS320F2806xM are the first devices (69M and 68M - 80 or 100 pin packages) from Texas Instruments that includes InstaSPIN-MOTION. InstaSPIN-MOTION is a comprehensive motor-, motion- and speedcontrol software solution that delivers robust system performance at the highest efficiency for motor applications that operate in various motion state transitions.

Yes, 69M and 69M have InstaSPIN-MOTION enabled.

InstaSPIN-MOTION includes everything in InstaSPIN-FOC, plus the entire SpinTAC suite of components (Identify, Control, Move, Plan).

69F, 68F, 62F have InstaSPIN-FOC enabled.

You will see more devices this year available as standard Piccolo or with -FOC or -MOTION enabled. :)

What do you mean by: InstaSPIN-MOTION "Enabled"?

I thought I could use InstaSPIN with any TMS320F28069 ? As InstaSPIN existed before the new devices...please elaborate

InstaSPIN-BLDC existed, and is enabled by a .lib that can be incorporated into your projects.

InstaSPIN-FOC and InstaSPIN-MOTION are new this year, and are enabled by new libraries (FAST and SpinTAC) that are delivered only in on-chip ROM.

So...InstaSPIN™ Motion is the most comprehensive solution that also contains the InstaSPIN™ FOC libraries ?

yes, -MOTION is a superset of -FOC.

FOC is for software sensored torque control, with a generic speed PI controller included

MOTION adds an enhanced speed controller, inertia ID, movements (A to B), and state based planning (connecting moves)

MOTION can also be used with a mechanical rotor sensors if your application requires (or in // with our FAST software sensor)
