Hardware not identified

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8301, DRV8301-69M-KIT, MOTORWARE, DRV8312

Hi,

I just started with setting up the Insta Spin Motion development kit together with the GUI Composer v1. I use the following boards:

  • drv8301kit_revD
  • TMS320F28069MPZT

When I start the GUI composer the program is loaded properly on the controller and the console outputs ends with 'Restart Completed' (As it should be). However the hardware is not identified as you can see in the figure below. Furthermore the Leds 2 and 3 on the controller board (TMS320F28069MPZT) are red.

Question 1: How can I ensure that the hardware is properly identiefied?

Question 2: Where can I find the meaning of the status leds and how can I fix that?

(I assume that Questions 1 and 2 belong to the same problem.)

Kind regards,

Timon

  • first I've seen that happen on an actual DRV8301_REVD board. You are sure it is RevD? (it should be if it shipped as DRV8301-69M-KIT, but double check)

The test that it does is to look at the signals on some GPIOs. So if it's not seeing the correct signals there must be damage to the controlCARD or DRV8301 board.

If you power cycle the board and re-launch is it consistent?

You can try to run it (the error doesn't disable anything), but if you can I would return/replace.

  • Hi Chris,

You are right, It is a TMDS1MTRPFCKIT. This baord is Rev C according to the labeling on the hardware.

It is not possible to run this board with the software of Rev D even when I power cycle the board. Is there a software package fitting for this hardware revision C. Or better, can I replace the board with a new one. To which address can I send it back?

    Regards,

    Timon

  • Timon,

the TMDS1MTRPFCKIT (regardless of revision) is not supported with the InstaSPIN-FOC or -MOTION GUI or MotorWare package.  Only the DRV8301, DRV8312, and TMDSHVMTR kits are.
