Hello everyone!

I am interested in buying a F28335 card.

I am using CCS v4. My project is the PIL simulation with Simulink (Matlab R2011b).

I can find these cards :

- TMS320F28335 eZdsp Starter Kit : TMDSEZ28335

- TMS320F28335 Experimenter Kit : TMDSDOCK28335

- C2000 Peripheral Explorer Kit : TMDSPREX28335

For TMDSEZ28335 :

I am using CCS v4.1.0 Core edition. Is it adequate to communicate with the card?

Do I need to buy a serial RS232 wire to do PIL simulation with Simulink? The JTAG emulator version is XDS510USB.

For TMDSDOCK28335 :

F28335 Experimenter Kit only works with CCS v3.3? See : http://www.ti.com/tool/tmdsdock28335.

There is onboard JTAG emulation, but what is the version of this emulator?

Do I need to buy a serial RS232 wire to do PIL simulation with Simulink?

I will try to answer most of your questions. I have not used PIL simulation with Simulink and therefore will not be able to fully guarantee those aspects. Does Simulink just require a serial link?

1) TMDSEZ28335 -
* This kit should work with CCS3.3, CCS4, or CCS5.
* The EZdsp has a DB9 connector on it which will enable a connection between the F28335 and a computer.

2) TMDSDOCK28335 -
* This kit should work with CCS3.3, CCS4 or CCS5. I have sent a note to our marketing team so that they can make this more clear on the website.
* The onboard emulator is an xds100v1
* The FTDI chip (which connects to the USB) on the Experimenter Kit's Docking Station is responsible for creating the xds100v1 emulation link. Additionally, this FTDI chip can simultaneously be used as a virtual comport.

First, I bought a F28027 Piccolo LaunchPad for PIL simulation.

I have received this with a XDS100v2 emulator. I think this emulator is not supported by CCS v3.3. Is it?

Brett,

Simulink need a serial link when it is done with CCS v4. Usually not with CCs v3.3.

Yes, the xds100v2 only support CCS4 and greater.
