Is TMS320LF2407A remplaced TMS320F240 for motor ontrol

i study a driving for a switched reluctance motor, and i didn't found a DSP TMS320F240 in youy siteand in the market in generelly ,is the TMS320LF2407A remplaced it, or give me the equivalence of a TMS320F240 who the scientists uses actually for motors control please, ans thinks

    The TMS320F240 device is over 15 years old and is now an obsolete part.

    The TMS320LF2407A is functionally the most similar device to the 'F240.  Note that even though the 'LF2407A will still be produced for many years, it is currently not recommended for new designs.

    For a new project I might recommend the 'Piccolo' TMS320F28035.  The 'F28035 MCU is a much more current device.  The 'Piccolo' F28069 and 'Delfino' F28335 are other potential choices depending on the what the needs of your application are.  All are used to some extent in the motor control industry.

    TI also has several Piccolo development kits which may be of interest to you (some kits are generic and some kits are motor control specific).  See below:

  • I would recommend TMS320F28069M based tools. This is our "R&D" device internally. It gives great performance with lots of RAM (not much slower than the 150 MHz F283x devices if running from Flash) for motor control and lets you evaluate all of our standard motor control solutions as well as InstaSPIN-BLDC, -FOC, and -MOTION.

    For reluctance machines, we have not released anything in some time as you can tell from our application notes. There seems to be more interest recently (probably due to PM costs) so we will likely take some things from our Motor R&D facility for SR at some point, but not anytime this year.

    but a small supplement information, is the TMS320F240 program (C program for motor control for exemple), can  be loaded (is the same) in new generations TMS like 'Piccolo' TMS320F28035,

  • If I recall, most of the F240 projects were in assembly. If there were any in C then yes, the core functionality is probably easily transferred, but all of the peripherals and their software drivers changed significantly starting with the F280x series.

    Are you looking at an old switched reluctance application note? That's about the only thing from the F240 days that isn't available on an F28x class of device.
