Implementing Photovoltaic Inverter System using C2000 Microcontrollers on Solar Explorer Kit

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CONTROLSUITE

Hi,

I have solar explorer kir TMDSCSOLAREXPKIT Concerto type, I load the gui via ethernet cable, I saw the bulb is lighting, everything was good. But When I try to measure the PWM, something happen and bulb light gone. I restart the GUI do everything same but inver stage did not work. Then I load the PV Inverter program I load the program and debug the code apply the same stages in the control suite pdf. However, when change the LightCommand and the Inv_Iset the thoretical panel power cahnge also panel voltage change but the other variables are seems zero. I can't get any PWM signals.. Please help.. Is there any training video or extra detailed information about working on DC-DC boost PWM stage.

Thank you..

Zekiye

  • Zekiye,

    solar workshop is here

    http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/C2000_SolarWorkshop

it uses the Piccolo based kit but the slides should be useful nevertheless.

where exactly did you connect the scope probe? on the inverter one needs to be careful when using a scope as grounding issues may damage the scope or board. .

  • Hi Manish,

Thank you for your quick reply. Actually I measure the scope on the boost stage PWM output on the M1 macro on main board, also the PWM's on the M5 macro the emulator stage was working when the GUI was running but the algortihm do not work. I was changing the luminance value the theorititcal power change on the GUI scope but the output do not track the value.

I also take look to the workshop on the link but the codes are not working on my control card. If you have a PWM code working on my card and on my board, it will be perfect for me. How can I understand If there is a problem on my kit?

    Thank you,

    Zekiye

  • You will need to go to incremental build level 1, that will have options to do duty check..

    PWMDRV_1ch_UpDwnCntCompl_Duty3 = &Duty3A_fixed;

and now enter value in watch window on Duty3A_fixed, this wil give just duty on the boost stage

However make sure you are familiar with the board hardware, understand input and output voltage connection

  • Hi Manish,

I noticed that my processor is getting hot rapidly, and it getting really hot. After a while the leds on the control card, led2 and led3 stops lighting. Is that normal? Also I have an another Solarexpkit on that kit I make the same steps on the Pv inverter section and I realize that there is no power on the emulator input where the Vin part. Do you have any idea why i can not see any voltage on the emulator part,I load the program I change the light command and Invset part, I do everything as same as on the  pdf. I also double check the jumpers and bana cables connection. Do you have any idea, why this is happening? I am working on this card hours, but I couldn't get any progress. I am going go to crazy...

    Thank you...

  • Zekiye,

If your processor is getting hot, and led's are not working then this points to damage to the control card. I will recommend not to use the control card anymore unless you can debug the problem. The schematics of the control card are available in controlsuite under developement_kits.

The PV emulator section code is also available in controlsuite. If it is a known good board then you should be able to run the QSG GUI as you had done with the previous board, if it is not working i will suggest reprogramming the PV emulator section Pic-A ,
