SpinTAC library or similar for use with OMAPL138

I am starting development of a system to provide multi-axis motor control (and some other maths intensive functions using the DSP core) on an L138 and wondered if there was anything similar to the SpinTAC libraries, or preferably source code, available for the ARM core. I am interested mainly in the tuning, servo control and trajectory (s curve) functions. I will not be using brushless motors so that part of the code is not relevant.

Thanks.

  • Keith,

Unforunately the SpinTAC suite of motion products is only available on Piccolo class devices today.  On the OMAP class products I believe there is some support from CoDeSys, which is one of the most well known logic and motion control software suppliers.

Any consideration to using a Piccolo device for the motion & motor and have an OMAP device running the logic and axis control?

  • Keith,

Presently the SpinTAC motion suite is only available on select Piccolo C2000 DSPs.  The high end DSP, the TMS320F28069M, contains the SpinTAC motion suite and can control up to two motor axes.  This chip can do either sensored or sensorless velocity control or sensored position control of up to two axes.  If you would like to explore using SpinTAC on this chip I would be happy to help in any way I can.

    Thanks

  • Chris,

I have had a look at CodeSys but their products seem to be PLC based (IEC 61131-3).

I need to control 5-6 axes so I would probably need multiple Piccolos.

    Thanks,
