Hello!
I would like to program piccolo microcontrollers but I don't know what tool I require, I mean, what "programmer" should I buy?
(I have the microcontroller in the pcb so I think I need to use the JTAG port to program it)
I was reading about XDS100v2 but I'm not sure, please could you give some advice.
Thanks :)
Best regards,
Jordi
Hello Jordi!
In general for the program development you need the following:
1 CCS (http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/C2000_Getting_Started_with_Code_Composer_Studio_v5). You can free download from ti.com (the limited version) or buy.
2 controlSUITE (you can free download from ti.com).
3 The choose of JTAG-emulator for your device http://e2e.ti.com/support/microcontrollers/c2000/f/171/p/262465/918021.aspx#918021.
Regards,
Igor
Hi Igor,
1. I've been reading links about CCS but I couldn't find anything about the limited version, I mean, for example 32 kb o something like that.
2. Ok. Thanks.
3. I'm a little bit confused about tools. For this project we are going to use Piccolo but in other projects we are programming 28335 (ezDSP starter kit from Spectrum Digital). What tool do you recommend to me? Please give me some guidance.
Thank you very much, I really appreciate your comments.
Best regards,
Jordi
Hi!
1 Refer please to http://www.ti.com/lsds/ti/microcontroller/32-bit_c2000/tools_software.page?DCMP=C2000_F28x&HQS=Other+OT+c2000tools.
3 For example
http://www.spectrumdigital.com/product_info.php?cPath=22&products_id=202 ,
http://www.signum.com/images/pdf/jet_c2000.pdf ( it seems this is most suitable),
http://www.blackhawk-dsp.com/products/USB2000.aspx.
These emulators use not XDS100. Thus for free CCS version you will have code limitation 32KB (refer to 1).

Igor
