I am not able to open the Piccolo controlstick scematics with Eagle.

I tried to open the schematics given as part of sprc835 installation of Piccolo controlSTICK_v1.1.exe.

Eagle says there is a problem. When I look in the folder I see only .sch files and no .brd files which may be the issue.

Can some one point me to the location where I can get Eagle compatable schematics and layout files?

Hi Kumar,

the ControlStick and the COntrolCARD kits are done with the free tool ExpressPCB (http://www.expresspcb.com/ExpressPCBHtm/Download.htm).

I don't believe ExpressPCB files are compatible with Eagle. You may have to create your own Eagle based schematics.

I got expresspcb and was able to open the schematics.

Where can I get the symbol library for the Piccolo and the FTDI chips.

I don't think the layout files are included with the download and therefore TI team needs to provide these separately (if available of course).

I can't find anywhere in the docs where it says what the CAD tools are for the hardware files....

I tried Eagle too - evidently not Eagle format.

All,

The schematics and PCB files are all done in Express PCB. We also include the Gerber files for manufacture. These are all of the files we supply, as we design all of our tools (except the controlCARDs) in ExpressPCB.

Charlie,

I am able to open the schematic and the board layout in Express PCB.

I would like to do a new design based on this core design.

It will be nice if you can give a link to the the device library you used for Piccolo, FT2232D and other special components like connectors used in this design.

I could not find these in the libraries with the Express PCB installation which I downloaded today from their web site and installed.
