Hello,

I am considering PLC modem ICs for a new product in the SmartHome area. For this, I would like to purchase a TMDSPLCKIT-V3.

Do I get any HW schematics with this kit ? Or any other HW support (for power line interfacing especially) to allow me to design my own PCB ? Does the kit contain everything else to move to a custom design ?

Yes, Alin you'll be getting all the design docs with this kit.

Thank you for the response.

Also, can I use the code with minimal change on smaller MCUs ? I am not familiar with the TI families, so I don't know what other MCUs have the same core. I see the recommended one is a 2806x family. Any MCU from this family works ? Also, can I use other families (2802, 2803) ?

Hi Alin,

It would be better if you yourself compare datasheets of the controllers and make a table of the peripherals & features available.

I will compare the features, but I don't know what peripherals are mandatory for the PLC software module.

Can you tell me what are these peripherals ? Or maybe look at the lowest product in this family (C2802x) and confirm to me that it can work on PLC communications (with AFE031). Because if this works, all other MCUs should work.

Is there any way to get an approximation of the current needed in TX mode ? An approximate range maybe ?

Hello Alin!

For TI PLC solutions you will need PLC API libraries. Currently TI PLC branch supports API for F28335 (+OPA564 & PGA112), F28069(+AFE031) & F28M35 (+AFE031 or AFE032). Perhaps this thread will be useful for you http://e2e.ti.com/support/microcontrollers/c2000/f/171/t/254032.aspx?pi269061=1.
