Uprgade from TMS320F28335 to TMS320C28346

Hello,

I am looking for a part more powerful (in speed and RAM) than the F28335. The TMS320C28346 has more RAM and runs at 300 MHz, which is an improvement if compared with the F28335.

It seems that this the only option within TI, to have a faster device with an internal PWM peripheric for motor control (with the exception of some old parts of the OMAP familiy). The Concerto CPU parts cannot run faster than 150 MHz, and the ARM cannot help on this task.

Besides the TMS320C28346, there is any suggestion?

Hi Oscar,

Good topic to discuss on! Even we'll be exploring the possibilities to upgrade from F28335 in near future.

As of now:

TMS320C28346

seems to be the only replacement and also being from the same Delfino family there won't be much compatibility issues.

But regarding the existence of other TI DSP parts, there are more powerful alternatives (besides the Delfino or Concerto) with an integrated PWM peripheric like the one of the F28335?

Hi,

When it comes to compatible part, there aren't any! Switching should be smooth and hence nope.

Of course, if we move to a different family, there will be some problems in compatibility.

But my question is related with if I need more performance in term of DSP processing, and simultaneously, I need a flexible PWM peripheric like the one that is installed in the F28335, what are the options?

I know that some of OMAP family devices have a similar PWM peripheric, but we cannot say that this family is new...
