F28335 SCI UART USB

Hi,

I am working with TMS320F28335 Experimenter's Kit [R3] with the XDS100v1 USB emulator. The Experimenter's Kit board has the F28335 controlCard Release 2.2 installed and has J9 jumper installed. The USB is connected to a Windows 7 PC running HyperTerminal Private Edition v7.0.

I have been testing the sci-a port with the Example_2833xSci_Echoback. Transmission from device to PC works correctly because the "Hello World" and character entry prompts appear on the hyperterminal screen, but trasmission from PC to device doesn't work. I enter a letter and press enter but nothing happens.

The code loops for infinity at this instruction:

while(SciaRegs.SCIFFRX.bit.RXFFST != 1) { }  // wait for RXRDY =1 for empty state

I loaded the SCI_96.ht file per the comments in the project and I confirmed the COM port is correct.

Any ideas?

  • Here are the steps needed for the  TMS320F28335 Experimenter's Kit [R3] with the XDS100v1 USB emulator

    to work correctly with Example_2833xSci_Echoback:

    1. Jumper J9

    2. SW1 on controlCard should be OFF. Do not confuse this SW1 with the SW1 for USB on Experimenter's Kit main board.

    3. Load SCI_96.ht file in HyperTerminal.

    4. Ensure the COM port is the correct COM port used by the XDS100v1 USB emulator. In my case, COM9 was the correct COM port.
