Delfino True Speed

Kinds related to a previous post.

I have a 300 MHz TMS320C28346.  If the access to the internal SARAM is basically 10 - 15 ns which is around 100 MHz what is the 300 Mhz speed good for??  Wouldn't the 150MHz perform the same as the memory speed would be the bottle neck?

I guess, what features benefit from the faster clock speed than the 150 MHz F2833x/2823x based processors.

thanks

  • Hi,

what features benefit from the faster clock speed than the 150 MHz F2833x/2823x based processors

Clock speed would in-turn effect the ADC sampling rate, PWM periods etc...

Also, complex computations like control loop executions, matrices etc are hence effected too.

  • Hi Zenman,

The post you reference is discussing adding external supplemental memory.  The XINTF module allows you to read some reserved memory space, which is automatically translated into address/data/chip select/read/write strobes.  The effective performance of this is something like 6 wait states.

The C2834x device does have plenty of internal memory also, and most of it is 0-wait state, so you can definitely take advantage of the increased CPU speed.  See table below:
