DC source of TMDSHV1PHINVKIT is CV.

Hi,

I'm testing gried-tie inverter using TMDSHV1PHINVKIT.

DC input source is 380Vdc in CV mode.

I want that EVM is operated only grid-tie DC to AC inverter. My application is not solar.

When I connected the EVM to grid (120V/60Hz) for Grid-Tie Operation, DC bus voltage is increased and system enters fault mode.

DA-AC Running Information shows "DC Bus Over"

I found below comment in user's guide.

Notes: When there is no DC-DC part and the DC-source in CV mode is connected, the external loop must be disabled.

How do I disable the external loop?

I want further information.

  • Hello,

I am not expert on this but I am trying to help.

Did you pass the Open Loop Build step that mentioned in UG chapter 3.3.2?

If you did, then you should pass the Closed Loop Build Without PLL too.

And then the last, Closed Loop Build With PLL.

    It also mentions the note:

Note that when the DC-DC board is not connected, the voltage loop will be automatically disabled. The
dw_Bus_Voltage_Loop_Out will be given by the dwVoltageLoopOutConst directly. You can modify the
dwVoltageLoopOutConst in real time to get the different output current value.

So I think the external loop is disabled automatically because in the UG, it said that the external loop is the voltage loop ('The external loop is the DC BUS voltage loop, it will keep the bus voltage to V_ref.')

  • Hi Maria,

I didn't change and download on flash memory of control card (F28035).

I will try to test as you suggested and I have a question.

The SW of control card is applied Closed Loop Build with PLL. (INCR_BUILD = 3)

When Inverter starts operation, AC output and DC Bus voltage increases.

And then stopped when voltage of DC bus is over.

I don't understand why DC bus is increased when AC grid is connected.

  • Hello Remony,

I don't know why your DC bus is increased.

I think it should be increased/decreased but then stabilized (i think in the document this is the job of DC-AC inverter, please correct me if I am wrong).

Check first your setup with the steps that mentioned in the document and maybe you can find the reason.

    Good luck.

    Best regards,

    Maria

  • Hi, Remony,

I also have this problem. When I connected the inverter to grid, I could see DC BUS VOLTAGE OVER from GUI. Then DC source is decreased. I think it may be protected. Do you know the reason about it? Thank you!
