MICROCONTROLLER IC burnt

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28335

I was using TMS320f28335 Microcontroller with the docking station. While using it i noticed that the black square ic on the top was overheated. I changed the complete card and used it on the same docking station. The new one is working.

Please tell me suggestive measures for the burnt card.

  • Nalin,

Here is what you should do to make the card working:

    1. Using the schematics of the control card, please check the voltage levels around IC esp. from regulator. If you feel voltage levels do not match with F28335 electrical characteristics then regulator is faulty and might have damaged the controller.

    2. There is another possibility wherein regulator might be fine but controller's damaged due to some short(s) while testing.

On the safer side: If you're unable to detect the issue, replacing the LDO and controller would make your card work again.

    Regards,

    Gautam
