eZdsp F28335 USB drivers for windows 8

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CCSTUDIO

Hello,

I am trying to connect my eZdsp F28335 development board from Spectrum Digital with my Windows 8 computer.

I have followed the "Quick start installation guide" shipped with the eZdsp board, I have correctly installed the "CCS DSK v3.3 IDE" software and the "Drivers and Target Content"  from the CD-ROM.
When I connect the eZdsp board with my computer the "new device installer wizard" of Windows automatically appears and it seems like he's installing drivers for 5-10 seconds. Unfortunately, when I look in the Device Manager there's a yellow symbol in front of the TMS320x28xx eZdsp and the Device Status is: "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)"

When I open the F28335 eZdsp CCStudio v3.3 there's also an error:

"Error initializing emulator

I/O Port = 540

Board Name: F28335_eZdsp
Cpu Name: cpu_0"

I don't use an external JTAG emulator. (Is this required?)
Do I need to install a more recent version of CCS?

Is there any way to let this F28335 eZdsp board work with Windows 8?

Thanks in Advance!

CCS v3.3 is not supported on Windows 8.  Support for this particular revision was last on Windows XP.

    You can download the latest version (v5.5) from here;

    http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Download_CCS#Code_Composer_Studio_Version_5_Downloads

This board, emulator, and chipset are all supported by CCSv5.5 and since you're using an ezdsp kit, you will be able to use the "free license" option.

  • Hello Michael,

Thanks for the fast response! I have installed CCS v5.5 and in the Device Manager the "yellow symbol" is gone in front of the Spectrum Digital eZdsp28xx USB so I think the drivers are installed properly now.
