TMS320F28335 - Where are GPIO 54 and 56??

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28335

Hello folks,

I was considering setting pins 96 and 98 (GPIO 54 and 56) as SPI pins (SPISIMOA and SPICLKA) in TMS320f28335.

Now it seems they are not present in the dock station! Also couldn't find any connection for them in F28335controlCARD-PinOutTable.pdf.

Is that so?!!? Are those pins completely unavailable or am I missing something?

  • Hi Thiago,

    If you look carefully at the F28335 pinout;

    1. Pin No. 62 ie GPIO18 is muxed with SPICLKA

    2. Pin no. 27 ie GPIO16 is muxed with SPISIMOA

Both of these pins are easily accessible on the docking station :)

    Regards,

    Gautam

  • Hi Gautam,

Thank you again for chiming in!

You are right, I'd seen those already.

But as per datasheet, GPIO 54 and 56 are internally muxed with GPIO 16 and 18 and may be set to SPI. I'd like to check their positions, that means different layout strategies.

Can't believe that wasn't routed, and if it wasn't, now I wonder what else isn't available in the dock stn...  :(

    True true....

You don't have to worry, that's exactly why multi-muxing is available.

  • Hi Thiago,

    Gautam is correct.

In general the controlCARD connector only has 100 pins and because of this we could not bring all the GPIO signals through the connector.

For the F28335 controlCARD, we chose to not connect a several GPIOs that do not have any extra peripheral functions and a few GPIOs whose peripheral function could be found elsewhere.  GPIO54-57 are an example of the latter.

    Thank you,
    Brett
