I am trying to build an application using TMS320F28035. The requirement is to program the code into flash using eCAN Boot and then run the program from flash stand alone. Both Boot to flash and eCAN Boot require the same GPIO setting (GPIO34 is high and GPIO37 is high), but different OTP KEY and OTP MODE values. Since OTP KEY and OTP MODE cannot be changed run time it looks like the requirement cannot be met ( which is possible in F28335 since it has separate GPIO setting for Flash and eCAN Boot). Please let me know if my understanding is correct? Also,

How is the eCAN Boot currently being used on F28035 microcontroller?

Is there any other way to boot to flash on F28035 other than Get Mode setting?

the best way to do this is boot-to-otp and then have a program in user-otp which can decide whether to start the application in flash or start the CAN boot. You could use an IO that fits your design to make this decision. The bootROM is made to design with minimum no.of IOs so this scenario comes up.

Or you could always boot to flash and have a piece of code in flash which does start CAN boot or run the application in flash.

Boot ROM sources for this device are released as part of control suite so you can figure out how to call back to the CAN BOOT ROM loaders. You don't have to rebuild the ROM code but just load the symbols from COFF file and debug this.

Hi Gautam,

I have already gone through this document. My original post was based on my understanding of the document.

It looks like the eCAN Boot is non-functional in F28035, since GPIO setting is same for Boot to Flash and eCAN Boot. Please let me know if you have ever loaded software to F28035 using eCAN Boot?
