Hi all,

I`m a master student and I have a class "microcontroller". The professor teaches us DSP c2000, TMS320F2812 and he starts to execute some labs

could you say to me where can I find some copmplete programs especialy the source files., how can I write them? And, what is the starting books should I follow to be able to write program for DSP and write the program in source file

This has projects right from blinking of LEDs basics and respective documentation.

could you please recommend me which hardware should I buy it to make me more confidant in programming DSP c2000, TMS320F2812, I see this hardwere in this link http://www.ti.com/ww/en/launchpad/launchpads-c2000.html#tabs and I confused to buy it or not because my teacher using eZDSP TMS32F2812. for my project . what is your advise

Hamdi,

The 'F2812 has at least two development boards that I am aware of:

Note that for either you will also need an emulator such as the XDS510LC:

Unfortunately, there are no launchpads or controlCARDs for the older 'F281x series. If you need to use the F2812, then you should probably plan to buy a 'F2812 kit because the differences between the newer 'F28027 and older 'F2812 are likely large enough to make things difficult for you.

However, if you aren't tied to the 'F281x series (or just want to learn more about the C2000 device family:) ) the launchpad can be a great and relatively cheap tool.

thanks so much brother, this kit is an expensive about 400$. I don`t know what should i do I will talk with the professor to change it. I hope he agree . But I dont if the the other launchpads could excute projects related to power electronic or control on motors

Dear Brett,

Is there any simulator(software) can I used instead of the hardware( TMS320F2812 eZdsp Starter Kit (DSK) - Socketed version)

because I can use the hardware in the lab in the university, but I need to work in my home also, so I need to make simulation for the programs in the house. and then I will use the hardware in the lab

Dear Hamdi,

On the most recent versions of our Code Composer Studio IDE, there is a simulator for the F2833x series of C2000 devices, but not for the F2812. You can however write and compile code separate from the hardware and then debug once you get to the lab. This is obviously not ideal, but may be good enough.

The entire C2000 device family is built around controlling power electronics (motors, DC/DC power supplies, solar, etc). However, there are differences between device families (varying and different amounts of peripherals, amount of RAM/FLASH, CPU speed, etc). One of the families within C2000's Piccolo series should be acceptable for most motor applications and in fact the F2803x is what many of our motor evaluation kits are based on. C2000's Delfino F2833x or F2837x families may be more suitable for more advanced research.

The F2812 is also perfectly acceptable, but it is older. Because of that it wasn't involved in our initiative to get the price of C2000 evaluation kits lower.
