What is the difference between Piccolo and Delfino?

Yes, they are quite similar and based on the same 32-bit 28x CPU and similar peripherals.

First 28x based product was the F281x series, you may have heard of the F2812. 150 MHz, 128+ pins

Then we created the F280x series: reduced the clock speed to 100 and 60 with < 100 pins and moved to the new ePeripherals like ePWM, eQEP, eCAP.

Delfino was the name we gave to our high performance line with an FPU. Typically more pins, more memory, faster CPU, best ADCs, higher pricing.  First was the F2833x series (and we also offer a pin-pin no-FPU series F2823x).  We just release a high performance dual core series F2837xD.

Piccolo is the roadmap for the F280x series, continued to reduce pin count and memory options, added on-chip OSC and VREG and created a new 12-bit ADC architecture with the F2803x and F2802x series.  We then released the F2806x which added FPU, DMA, and VCU to Piccolo.  And most recently the F2805x which is very similar to F2803x but with on-chip PGA front-end.  We also added InstaSPIN-FOC and InstaSPIN-MOTION to the Piccolo series with support on the F2806x, 02x, and more to come.

During this process we also introduced the Concerto family, where we took elements of Delfino and Piccolo subsystems and merged them with an ARM Cortex-M3 to handle host/system control.  There are two series, F28M35x and F28M36x.

You will see additional Delfino and Piccolo devices this year.

Of these two products, which one is suitable for 500kS/s sampling rate, FFT operations on Sample sizes of 5000+? I want to use one for sampling 170kHz to 180kHz chirp signal.
