F28035/69 HVACI Sensorless FOC motor parameters auto-tune

Hi Chris,

I have done a HVACI Sensorless FOC VFD with F28069 for a customer, and it runs great, however, the customer wants me to implement a function of motor parameters auto-tuning. They told me that some VFDs from ABB, Siemens, Danfos, Delta, etc. have such function. Does Ti have a reference code on this? or do you know this algorithm?

Thanks a lot.

  • Biao,

We include this in the InstaSPIN-FOC solution, which can be run on a pin-pin compatible F28069F or 69M device. It is extremely tied to our FAST observer though, you couldn't run Motor ID without using our full system (some of the code for the state machining is in the ROM).

We do have some customers - like CoMoCo - that is using FAST but has also created their own state machine for motor identification.  It is based on our User Guide, but they do things specific to the types of motors they know they are going to run: ACI, certain frequencies, voltages, currents.  And they have built in some additional modes that we don't offer - like the ability to bypass the lock rotor test for ACI.

This is a good example of someone taking the core FAST software sensor and really building around it to create their own unique products.

    good luck!

  • Thanks Chris.
