F2837xd Configuration

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CONTROLSUITE

I'm having some trouble getting F2837xD Delfino Experimenter Kit working.  I went ahead and downloaded the flash support as discussed on some of the other posts.  No problems.  I'm using CCS version 5.5.0.00077 and downloaded the latest controlsuite.    All I want to do now is just run one of the examples files adc_soc_epwm_cpu01.  What should the build settings be? What linker file should I use and where is it located? What should the compiler version be?   Do I need to include anything special in the runtime support library for this device?  I have two USBs plugged in, one in the control card and one in dock.  Any help would be appreciated.

  • Hi Brad,

Isn't the import project working for you? All the linker files and include files would automatically get linked to project once you import it.

    Gautam

  • Hi Gautam,

No, I attached a file showing my steps and errors.  Thanks for helping.

  • Brad, instead try importing this way:

CCS -> Project -> Import Existing CCS Eclipse Project -> Paste

    C:\ti\controlSUITE\device_support\F2837xD\v100\F2837xD_examples_Cpu1\blinky\cpu01

    in Select Search directory

Then check the project in the Project Explorer whether all the header and peripheral files are included within your project or not.

  • Hi Gautam,

Followed your steps.  No luck.  It built with with no errors but wouldn't debug.  I looked at the build settings after and it says generic 28xx device.  Are you working with device or just making general suggestions?  I appreciate your help.  I don't see a lot of post for this device.  I'm a little worried that the release might have been too early.  I asked TI tech support and their reply was just keep trying on the forums.  I'm not asking them to help me dedug my code,  I'm just asking for them to help debug their code.  I don't mean to complain on a forum, but it is a little frustrating that I can't get anything working on the device with code the vendor provided.  I've worked with the explorer 28335 kit and never had any problems.

  • Hi Brad,

Are you working with device or just making general suggestions?

I've been working on this device since more than a fortnight. You can check my profile for that. Also, this board didn't give me any trouble! I've implemented majority of the example codes and they work like charm.

Anyways, coming back to your problem. You say:

I can't get anything working on the device with code the vendor provided.  I've worked with the explorer 28335 kit and never had any problems.

That's good that you've already worked on F28335. Spotting the issue would  be easier

    1. You're able to build without any errors : so this shows that device support is present.

    2. Not able to debug: Did you create a New Target Configuration? Is F28337D present under XDS100v2 emulator menu?

Also, do a Test Connection in Target Configuration. Do you get any error while you press the Debug Button?

    Regards,

    Gautam

  • Brad,

Can you post up a screencap of the connection and device that you've selected in your CCXML file?  You can open by double-clicking the ccxml file name.  Your emulator should be selected as TI XDS100v2 and the device should be F28377D.  Also, verify that you've connected to the correct USB connector (USB mini, not micro) for the on-board emulation.  You should see a pair of entries in your Device Manager if you're connected to the proper USB connector.

If you see both XDS100V2 entries in Device Manager and the CCXML settings match the ones that I've provided, please run the connection test inside the CCXML configuration screen and post the results.

  • Hello,

I am facing the same problem. I think I have the answer but not tested yet. the problem is that you don't have an f28377D configuration in this version. I found that configuration to emulate f28377D is available only in CCS V6. I will do it and try but I think it is the solution of your problem.

    regards,

    Olivier

One can use this device with CCS v5 too. Please refer this thread:
