OTP Usage

The OTP holds the part ID for the devices.  The ROM code checks the part ID to make sure it is the proper device to allow execution of the code (F or M for InstaSPIN-FOC components, M for InstaSPIN-MOTION components on F2806x devices).

Yes, OTP is accessed on all devices for this part ID check.

It is a single function call, not multiple lines of code, etc.

Fair question though, I'll ask that this section is updated to avoid confusion.

I'm not sure I completely follow. You need to set-up the flash waitstates for the Flash and OTP. You're asking what happens if you do NOT?

Is the idea that you are planning to run your application entirely from RAM + ROM on F2806x device?

Yes and yes. The flash states are completely set up upon reset I believe to default values, these values may be slow but so what if the OTP is only used once?

I believe the part ID is checked from OTP every time EST_run() is caled, so typically at a 2.5-20 KHz rate....it's not just at boot.

I would have to check if we expect the default settings just to cause a few cycle delay or if it's serious...interesting question, let me see what I can find out.

Why not just have your project you are booting to RAM set-up the flash states correctly?
