SM320f2808 EEPROM read/write and power sequencing.

Hi Everyone,

We are using SM320f2808 for our application and facing 2 issues,

1) EEPROM emulation on Flash for SM320f2808
In the Example Code there are two functions EEPROM Write and EEPROM Read.

Inside EEPROM_write() function there is another function Flash_program().At the time of debugging when the control comes to this point the error occurs.The screen shot of the Error is attached to this mail. 2) Power sequencing aspects for SM320f2808, the controller is not responding if the system is turned on first before the controller turns on, but works fine if the controller is turned on first.

Please let us know what could be the issue.

There's no screenshot attached. Also, for your second query please check the supply towards the controller when the system is switched on first.

Did you check the presence of "Flash28_Prog.C" in your project directory or atleast an include link? I've been using EEPROM emulation since a long time and its works like a charm.

Suppose if the system is poweron first and then the MCU is powered on it is not responding.,

Does your system and mcu have individual power supplies? Are their Gnd common?

Hi Gautam,

1) It is not added.

2) Yes both the external sytem and the MCU are switched on from the same power supply and GND is common.

The difference is the external system switches on first and the 5V to 3.3V LDO have some delay and switches after the external system is switched on, so MCU is switching after some delay.

Santosh, did you try the Debugging the mcu using CCS? If yes then what do you observe while debugging? Do you get any kind of error when you hit the play button?

E2PROM we'll deal later. I would first like to understand why the controller is behaving the way you mentioned earlier.

Hi Gautam,

How to keep MCU in debugging mode, as in this condition the MCU is non responsive only after switching with some delay after external system switches(The I/O's of SM320f2808 is connected to the external devices which goes to high state before the MCU switches on)

Do you want us to test by switching the external system first and then power the MCU and check in debugging mode.

Santosh, is there any facility wherein we can isolate the mcu supply? Let the GNDs be same just try to give supply to mcu from external supply. Then, power on your mcu -> enter the debug mode (but don't press the play button)-> Switch your system ON -> Then press the play button. Do revert back with your observations. What I feel is there is some issue with the power supply; because there are no power sequencing issues in F2808. In short, please check your power supply. Glow an LED (if available on board) to get an actual idea of what might be happening.

Does MCU goes to unknown state or it get damages if the I/O's are driven with 3.3V and VCC =0V??

You mean to say GPIO with 3.3V? Nope it will not get damaged, till the current is less than sinking current of the mcu specs.

Hi friends,

Am also getting the same error message which is ,

" couldn't find the source file Flash28_Prog.c"

tell me what is the correct issue.

1. if the file 'Flash28_Prog.c' is missing means where can i find this?

2. or the issue is somewhere related to flash or eeprom?
