C2000 serial communication sample code

Are you using the C2000 Launchpad? If yes then please do the project initialization according to this doc: Get used to the structure that one follows for C2000 mcus and then proceed towards SCI comm.

Thanks for the quick reply. 

Yes, I am using C2000 launchpad. I've been familiarizing myself with the sample codes given. I've tried the LED blinking and the ADC-ePWM module and both of them worked fine.

I am working on a project that requires me to send in an input through serial communication that has to be compared with the signal from the ADC.I have to first configure the SCI right? I just wanted to try the example code given but it gives me the error that I mentioned. Am I missing some file?

Are you trying to load the program to flash or RAM?

Do you get any error from "Build Project" (not with Debug)?

Yup, you've to configure SCI and sci_echoback project is the best one to start with. Please copy SCI.c and SCI.h to your project or just pick and drop those files to your project if not linked already!
