C2000 Launchpad XL SCI Extension - Getting Fault LED

Hello everyone,

first my Setup:

I got a Launchpad XL (LAUNCHXL-F28027) with a BOOSTXL-DRV8301 Extension Board and a motor attached to it.

Currently I'm running Project Lab 05b with a self written SCI Extension to modify the Motor Parameters via Serial Port. Things are working as intended (finally), but the only thing which bothers me, is that whenever I got serial communication (Rx or Tx, doesn't matter) the Fault LED on the BOOSTXL-DRV8301 Board is blinking.

I already tried to modify the isr priority of sci, but that failed (I'm still a bloody beginner with these controllers).

Anyone got ideas how to overcome that?

Did you solve your problem?

The blinking FAULT LED is happened because FAULT LED of Boostxl-drv8301 is connected to GPIO28 (which is SCIRXDA).

And OCTW LED is connected to GPIO29 (which is SCITXDA).

So that's why they are blinking every time the SCI communication occurs.

thank you for your answer, I didn't know that the LED is wired that way, so that explains the behaviour!

Yes, I think the combination between Launchpad XL (LAUNCHXL-F28027) with a BOOSTXL-DRV8301 is not supposed to use SCI.

Another option is to use GPIO12 (SCITXDA) and GPIO19 (SCIRXDA), but also in this case GPIO19 is already occupied by M_PWM of DRV8301 chip (I don't know what M_PWM is). So I think for experiment (before you make your own board), using GPIO28 and GPIO29 is better since they are only connected to LEDs (but in this case you can not observe the Fault and OCTW behaviors).
