InstaSPIN-FOC for avionic applications

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDSHVMTRINSPIN, CONTROLSUITE, TMDSCNCD28035

Hi,

we are working for an avionic application and we need to certify according to DO-178C all software running in our solution.

We are evaluating InstaSPIN-FOC technology, but we have noticed that the FAST Estimator is available only as ROM library.

Does TI provides something useful to this purpose? For example a certification for FAST Estimator library…

Thank you,

Nicola

  • Nicola,

With existing ROM implementation we do not think it is feasible to pass DO-178C certification.

For next generation silicon with InstaSPIN solutions enabled from ROM we will provide certain processes and documenation for ISO26262 ASIL-B levels. We aren't specifically targetting DO-178, so a judgment would have to be made by the customer as to if they could certify.

  • Hi Chris,

in this case I will have to give up InstaSPIN technology for flight software, probably to use it only for ground applications....

Using a High Voltage Digital Motor Control Kit (TMDSHVMTRINSPIN), where can I find a sample CCS project that implements the FOC in a traditional way?

    Thank you,

    Nicola

  • The HVMTR kit you have can be used with controlSUITE projects

    C:\ti\controlSUITE\development_kits\HVMotorCtrl+PfcKit_v2.1

for these you will need TMDSCNCD28035 controlCARD for immediate build/run.

  • Thanks Chris,

I am following your indications and I'm analyzing the sensored control example of controlSUITE.

I guess that's what I need, except that there is still a dependency on the library IQMath: the sources do not seem to be available, and this could still be a problem from the point of view of the certification of the code.

Does TI provides something useful to this purpose?

    Regards,

    Nicola

  • We can license you the IQMath source code for soruce code archival (not allowed to change the code)  if required. Have done this for avionics and medical customers in the past.
