Piccolo TMX320f28027 PWM level after halt command from CCS

Hi everyone. I wonder if there is a way to freeze the PWM signal after the halt command from CCS or, alternatively, to keep it low (in fact it seems that when a halt command or brekpoint occurs, the pin is randomly put at low or high level). This could be serious problem for power stages boards' debugging controlled by Piccolo. Is this a normal behaviour or is it due to TMX release? Trip zone could be a solution? Thank you.

Hoi Giovanni,

I think you could help yourself by different Time Base Control Register (TBCTL) Setting. With bit 15:14 of this register you can change the PWM behaviour in case of emulation events, as HALT would be one. See Document spruge9c on page 106

Great Andreas! With that field put at 1 it ever goes at low level (it depends from EPwm action qualifier setting). Thank you very much!!

Have you checked EMUSTOP feature? I believe EMUSTOP can be associated with one of the trip zones and can be used to shut off all PWM outputs in case CPU halts.

Well, EMUSTOP should offer you the cleanest way to manage PWM outputs during debuggung. Good luck.

This is correct. On 2803x and 2802x devices the EMUSTOP is connected to TZ6 of each ePWM. This way you can define how the pins behave when the device is halted by the debugger.

Hi Giovanni,

If you wish to stop only the time-base counters during an emulation suspend, you might want to look into the PWM Time-Base Control Registers (TBCTL on 28xxx) which have bits called FREE_SOFT for different behavior settings during emu suspend.

Is there a similar feature for the Delfino F28335 devices? I want to use this exact feature to halt all ePWMs to a low value, but in searching the TI documentation for "EMUSTOP" I didn't see that this feature was available. Is there another way to halt all the ePWM modules to all low states?
