Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F2810

Dear All,

I'm having trouble Flash memory Program on TMS320F2810 DSP. some program without problem, but others show this screen. What should I do?

note: All DSPs are New !!!

We are desperate and do not know what to do. Does anyone have any idea? DSPs are they fake?

Best Regards.

It may be due to writing 0x0000 to CSM password locations, wherein the controller get locked permanently.  Try resetting CPU and watch the screen whether the controller is unlocked or not.

  • Manju,

I try write 0000 in Code Security Password but not have sucess. See Picture below. That will be done right ?

I try any differet Keys, but none work fine.

when you mention write in CSM locations, you refers that I need write 0000 in this above picture ,in directly Memory, or in other location ? Can you help me ?

See below, I take picture from DSP that any can help me if these DSP are Faked or have new silicon errata .

  • Heino,

Where were the devices purchased from?

I mean when by chance/accidently,  if you write 0x0000 in to CSM locations, then the device gets locked permanently.  I don't know about faking of DSPs or errata.

We always buy from Arrow or Avnet in Brazil, but unfortunately the lead time from Texas is very high and our stocks are running low. So we bought a few pieces of a broker to meet our need.
The name of the company that bought the DSP is FULL PARTNER INTERNATIONAL LTD. The address is: INFOTECH CENTER, 2E, 21, HUNG TO ROAD - KWUN TONG, HONG KONG.

You could tell me if Texas sells DSPs recorded and they need a key so I can reuse as new? If anyone knows the key for me to rewrite, I appreciate it.

We do not believe that DSPs are forged. But have been written by someone

    regards

  • Heino,

From the markings, we are investigating to determine if they are legitimate devices that were resold or if they are counterfeit.

Unfortunately if someone wrote to the password, and now the devices are locked, there is no way to unlock them without knowing the password.  This type of thing seems to be common when devices are purchased from a broker.

  • Lori,

I very much appreciate if you can find out whether they are legitimate devices.

I'll check if we have to return these parts to the broker, but unfortunately I think we will lose these devices.

If you have something to help me I'll be waiting

    Best Regards

  • Heino,

It's always best to buy through normal TI channels.

Sorry to be the messenger of bad news.  I've heard back - after trying to trace the lot information on the device it appears that is is not a legitimate 281x.

    Regards,

    -Lori

I appreciate very your dedication on my question. You are correct, we need improve our buy system, and buy only from through approved channels.

Is really a shame that there are companies in the world that counterfeit products to make money. Are not worthy of it whose own products.

  • Hello Lori

I took a look on this discussion because we faced the same problem with TMS320f2810 DSPs bought from a broker. Our DSPs have the same lot numbers as the one described on this discussion .

In our case, some DSPs (40%) are unlocked and we are able to be program those. but, after reading this post, I not sure I can use theses DSPs. May they have reliability problems? or Bugs?

I would like to know what does a not legitimate device is. Is it a counterfeit? stolen? already programmed?

    Regards

    Adrien

  • Hi Lori

I have exactly encountered with the same problem for TMS320f2810.

I have bought 20 IC's and only 5 number of  them could be programmed.

    what should we do?

should we change our design and use another type of micro controllers?

is there any same problem with other type TI DSPs?

    Thanks.

Did you buy them through a TI distributor or through a Broker?
