estimate the memory size before to select a mcu/dsp

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28027

Dear All,

In developing stage we select a MCU matching to the application.

For selecting a MCU we determine the requirements.

The memory is one of the important ones.

How we can estimate/determine the memory ( flash/ram ) required in the project before selecting?

Is there a method for it by simulation ?

Thanks in advance,

Ras

  • Hi Ras,

This depends on the type of application and the features it provides. So any info on this would help me guide you.

  • Dear Gautam,

My question is general, but I have a project now:

The controller samples three analog inputs of temperature ( inside and outside ) and current. It switches two power electronic switches. The power electronic circuit supplied from ac and the load is a resistor element. The controller mainly regulate the temperature of the heater. In the firmware we need to calculate the trms of the current, to sample the temperatures and regulate it in closed loop and feed-forward manner.

    Please consider a general question.

    Regards,

    Ras

This can be achieved by TMS320F28027 itself. No need of any high end controllers.

  • Thank you Gautam,

  • No problem, Ras! Do let me know if you've more questions.

    Goodluck & Regards,
