Hel all,

I can't believe I continue to have the same error over and over again connecting my PC through USB - FTID Chipset - JTAG - MCU(connecting the target). what do I do?

Amos,

Are you EVER able to connect to the MCU target through USB-JTAG in CCS?

Remind me which hardware you have please.

the Hardware that I am using is a DRV8301 - HC - EVM Rev D

you are trying to run InstaSPIN-BLDC?

How about I send you a TMDSCNCD28035ISO that is programmed correctly with InstaSPIN-BLDC .out so you can use the GUI?

I just set this up and it worked fine.

After you program the controlCARD in CCS you have to disconnect the connection in CCS, then phsycially disconnect/connect the USB cable to the controlCARD to get it to re-connect over the UART and start running the program (LD1 will be solid, LD3 will blink).

Then start InstaSPIN-BLDC_GUI_DRV83xx_v104.exe and it will connect and run just fine.

ok, the controlCARD I just used and verified is going in the mail.

Plug it in, power the Vbus, and run

C:\ti\controlSUITE\development_kits\DRV830x-HC-C2-KIT_v105\~GUI\InstaSPIN-BLDC_GUI_DRV83xx_v104.exe

Hey Chris,

I just checked the board connections, and I did not have any problem for the target connections. Now, the problem is I can get the motor to spin because I have a fault. It goes up to 25RPM and then stop because of some fault. What do you think could cause that?

typically an over current situation, and that is typically caused by poor commutation (you haven't tuned the commutation threshold point). could also be because you haven't added any current control to the solution. if you have a low inductance motor (which you probably do since you are running at 25 KRPM) you will also need to PWM faster than the default 20 KHz to try to control the short circuit switching current and torque ripple.

InstaSPIN-BLDC helps you create a robust trapezoidal commutation engine, but there is more work to be done to create a functional motor control solution for an application. The InstaSPIN-FOC and -MOTION solutions automate many of these next steps much easier, that's why I always recommend them first.
