F28M35h52c bootloader bank

hello

I'm currently involved in a project aiming the development of a special motor controller.

Actually the the IC is ship with an embedded bootloader (for the M3 and C28x). But unfortunately because the bootloader of our device should work with an already define bootloader protocol and flash other satellite IC than the C28x we are not able to use the default bootloader.
So. is it possible to reuse the bootloader bank of the M3 in order to write my own bootloader or is it a true dead ROM memory ?

if the this 64K bank is available to be  written how can i do that?

  • Van,

the ROM code cannot be modified on the Silicon. On the TMS version of the silicon there is a boot-to-OTP mode and this boots to user code in OTP (the size available would be less than 2KB). This is explained in detail on the forum post : http://e2e.ti.com/support/microcontrollers/c2000/f/171/t/312626.aspx and below is a snapshot of the user OTP map.

other than this, users can use the boot-to-flash option and put custom boot loaders in flash. There could be a custom ROM Mask option possible but depends on the business side of it, so you have to get in touch with the Marketing team or your local FAE to see if custom mask ROM is possible or not.

see if you can fit your custom loader in OTP and Flash and either use boot-to-otp or boot-to-flash best thing.

    Best Regards

    Santosh
