F2837xD HRPWM

Hi

I'm thinking about usingn the new F2837Xd for a new design and I was wondering one small thing regarding the PWM. There are 12 ports (2 channels each) and 8 that can be used as HRPWM. I just wanted to confirm that I can use 8 ports as HRPWM and use the other 4 ports left as standard EPWM.

Also, with this type of PWM module, I'll be able to have deadbands between channel A and B on the HRPWM.

Best regards,

  • Hi Mosin,

    Yes, you can!

    That's true.

  • Hi,

Thanks for the answer. One other thing, from my understanding in the TRM, not all 12 PWMs are the same. In the code libraries though, all 12 PWMs use the same structs. Is there a place in the datasheet or TRM where it's easy to see the difference between all 12 ports? For example, which 8 of the 12 have HR capabilities or other stuff like that.

    Best regards,

  • Hi Mosin,

Correct, they are not all the same.  If you look at the Pin Descriptions table of the datasheet some GPIO pins describe their PWM outputs with "and HRPWM channel" whereas some do not.

    (for example: GPIO15 vs. GPIO16)

    Thank you,
    Brett

  • Hi,

I noticed that table but is it possible there are other difference? From ADC SOC capabilities, dead band modules, Sync in sync out. Anything really. I just want to be sure I can use the EPWM structures equally other than the HR module.

No worries mosin! They all support :)
