TMS320f2809 for sinusoidal commutation

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F2809

I am facing too much delay in operation when i am using the TMS320f2809 for my application.

I need to perform sinusoidal commutation with a switching frequency of 40kHz . It is a high torque low speed application and our motors are running in 48V .

This processor is taking too much processing time that is exceeding the control loop time.

I have doubt that - Is there something wrong with my coding because of which more of assembly instructions are getting involved .

This I can verify only if I am sure that I am working on the rite processor for my application. Please help me out.

  • Are you using InstaSPIN 69F or 69M?

If so, simply decimate the PWM clock appropriately in user.h

I would use 42 MHZ pwm and use (3) to get the inner control to 14 KHZ.   Then you can further divide by (2) if your application accepts 7 kHz control or estimation.

All of the default projects for the DRV83x based kits use 45 KHz and /3 as the default.
