'28335 GPAMUX2, GPBMUX1 'initialized' to XINTF

Hi Champs,

We have a small customer asking why these registers get written (as apparent in CCSv3.3 debugger watch window) after 'File>Load Program'. Sure, after reset these registers default to zero, but it does seem odd that bits get set in this supposed uninitialized data memory when the program is loaded. Do you mind giving us a comment or two regarding this at your leisure? Thanks heaps.

Hi Clark

It sound like CCS GEL script configures GPIO-s for external memory interface befor or after program load. Check the "OnPreFileLoaded" and "OnFileLoaded" functions within GEL file

Hi Mitja,

Yep, we find as exactly as you said, this could lead to potential issue as the GPIO could be pulled low. Could i have your answer for below question: If i change the OnPreFileLoaded function in GEL, i change the GPxMUXy setting to GPIO, will this be OK? or it could cause unexpected behavior? (We don't use the external memory interface). Thanks!

The best way is to comment out any code in GEL files, as then the MCU response is the same running form debugger or standalone.

Thanks for replying. If we comment out all the code in GEL files, will it affect the debugger functionality? Don'w know if we have any documents regard this topic. Thanks.

It's in the GEL file so some of TI's basic examples that load to XINTF run correctly. You can comment out the lines that initialize the XINTF.
