Can we Run FOC in CLA?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CONTROLSUITE

Hi,

We need some information related to CLA.

1. What is the MIPS available in CLA?

2. Can we run INSTASPIN FOC algorithm of TMS320F28069F controller in CLA ?

3. If yes, what would be the minimum FOC loop processing time?

Thanks,

Kannan

    180 MIPS

I won't recommend this but for the best response on these queries I'm forwarding to Mr. Instaspin himself!

So, wait for a while you'll receive a response from him.

  • 1. CLA runs at same frequency as CPU, so on F2806x this is typically 90 MHz

    2. No, CLA can not be used for InstaSPIN-FOC. We only take advantage of the CPU for this library. It is possible to put some of the control in the CLA though: Clarke, Park, PI controllers, IPARK, and Modulation. This would save you some MIPS, but makes it more complex. I do know of a customer who has done this. However, if you do this you can't run Motor ID with this control system.

We do show how to do regular SMO based FOC on CLA in a controlSUITE example (tmdshvmtrpfckit)

    3. For InstaSPIN-FOC we document the cycles in the TRM spruhi9
