TMS320F28044

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28044, LM317

I need to know what is required for proper power sequencing ofthe TMS320F28044.  I am using a TPS70102 regulator to bring up the 1.8V corefirst and then the 3.3V I/O. Appnote SPRAAP6A says to bring up the analogvoltage supplies next. Does this mean I have to have both those supplies (VDDCOREand VDDIO)  stable before I can bring up the analog supplies VDDA1.8 and VDDAIO?If so in what order? Is it OK if the 1.8V analog comes up at the same time asthe 1.8V core voltage? Or both analog voltages at the same time? The referencedesigns I've seen don't seem to worry about waiting for the analog supplies tocome up until digital displays are stable.

The power sequencing requirements can be found in the data manual for the device.  For the 28044 this is: www.ti.com/lit/SPRS357 refer to section 6.8. The analog does not need to wait for the digital to power up first.

  • hi lori,

i am using lm317 voltage regulator to bring 3.3v from 5v , and 1.8v for core from 3.3v.

is it lm317 regulator is feasible to bring 1.8v  and 3.3 v for f28044 device?

because lm317 regulates output when output current is greater than 10mA.

obviously f28044 requires > 10mA current when in active mode but in sleep mode (that is peripheral are not clocked)

current requirement is very less is < 10mA.

is any other cost effective 3.3v regulator you know.

    thanks
